Strolling Through Shonandai’s Hidden Paths and Early Blooming Cherry Blossoms

By 神奈川県 散歩チャンネル ( Kanagawa walk ch )

This short scenic video from the Kanagawa Walk Channel offers a peaceful street-level journey through the Shonandai area (湘南台) in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Captured during a clear spring day, it gives viewers a calm and reflective look at the less-traveled paths of this suburban area.

The walk focuses on the quieter backstreets of Shonandai, allowing viewers to appreciate the townscape without the bustle of crowds. It also includes a relaxing stroll along Hikichi River (引地川), which meanders through the area and provides a natural refuge within the urban setting.

A highlight of the walk is a stop at Shonandai Park (湘南台公園), where early-blooming Tamagawa Zakura (玉縄桜), a type of cherry blossom, is in full bloom. These cherry blossoms lend vibrant color to the landscape and give a strong sense of the changing season as spring begins to arrive.

This video marks the creator’s first production using a new computer setup and captures their signature approach—dodging busy areas in favor of discovering the beauty in hidden pockets of everyday life.

Shonandai is a well-connected residential hub in western Fujisawa, accessible by the Odakyu Enoshima Line, Sotetsu Izumino Line, and Yokohama City Subway Blue Line. It’s a great base for exploring both inland and coastal Kanagawa.
